Getting through cosmetology school can be tough as there’s a lot to learn before you perfect your craft. At 91µÎµÎ, we want to send you out into the beauty world as a top-notch professional. There are steps you can take to prepare yourself for a successful career in the industry, which is why we want to walk you through the do’s and don’ts of cosmetology school.

Do | Gain relevant experience while attending beauty school. This may mean taking a less-than interesting job in a salon or spa to get your experience. This is important because, although you may not be doing what you want, it will help you get your foot in the door.

Don’t | Attend a non-accredited school. When searching for the right beauty school, you need to keep in mind if it’s reputable as well as accredited. Otherwise, it really won’t matter how much you learn as employers may not take you seriously if they feel your degree is not legitimate. It may be more difficult for someone with a degree from a non-accredited school to get certified or licensed.

Do | Use networking to your advantage. Networking within your industry is so important while you are in school. Starting to build a client base while in school is a good thing! You want to get your name and your work out there; an amazing way to do that is through social media. Start a Business Account on Instagram and being to build a following.

Don’t | Enroll in beauty school full time if you are unable to commit to it. Having a work-life balance is necessary for your success. Being a full-time student in beauty school is a massive time commitment, so it’s important to consider whether you can handle full-time or if you’d be a better part-time student. Though being enrolled part-time will mean being in school longer, it will be better than taking on more than you can handle and not being able to complete your program altogether.

Beauty school is not easy and is going to take a lot of work, but we believe in you and your success! Following these tips will help ensure long-term success in and out of beauty school!

It’s hard to break up your skin routine when you know what works for you. It makes sense that you might be apprehensive to change, but we want to stress how important it is to shift your skincare routine from season to season. This sounds like a tough task but switching up your skin routine from fall to winter is easier than you think!

Tip #1- Change up your moisturizer

Since the cooler climate can cause your skin to become dry, using a heavier moisturizer is exactly what the weather calls for. Some of our favorites are from L’Oréal Paris. We love the Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care and the Age Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Moisturizer. These are both amazing for hydrating your skin when it needs it the most.

Tip #2 – Hello, Exfoliation!

Exfoliation is so essential even though it is commonly left out in skincare routines; it is important to exfoliate your face 1-2 times a week, especially in the winter. When you fail to exfoliate your skin, dead skin cells build up on the surface and can make your skin look dull. So, be sure to incorporate this step for bright skin all winter long.

Tip #3 – Use a Charcoal Mask

With your social calendar kicking up during the holidays, it is still important to make some time for yourself. A charcoal face mask will do more for your skin than you can imagine. A charcoal face mask can help draw out all of the impurities that could be on or in your skin. This also helps reduce dullness and your skin immediately looks more radiant!

Tip #4 – Focus on Evening Skin Tone

After a long year, there is a serious chance that your complexion could use some correcting. The formation of dark sports can pop up on your skin. Thankfully winter provides an amazing opportunity to work on evening your skin tone. We suggest trying a dark spot correcting serum to help minimize dark spots.

We hope you can use some of these tips to ramp up your winter skin routine! Let us know if you try any of these on our social media!

Picking a nail color can be hard, trust us we know. But we want to help! So, here’s our guide to the best nail colors for this fall season!

Nudes | Honestly, you can never go wrong with a solid nude color. Regardless of the season, this color works with everything. There are many ways to do a nude color by going with a beige or a metallic bronze.

Glitter | There is no such thing as too much glitter, and glitter on your nails is a trend that’s not going away any time soon. We recommend a silver-grey sparkle for the fall. This is great to put on all of your nails or just one for an accent. The more chunky the sparkle, the better.

Dark Blues | Choosing a blue shade during fall is very important; the darker the blue the better. Indigo is a perfect shade for the fall as it’s dark enough to fit in with the season. Give Chanel’s Chanel le Vernis in Blue Trompeur a shot!

Red | A red nail never goes out of style and can be worn in any season. Red is the perfect color because there are so many different shades. We recommend a dark red, bright red, or orange red. There are so many options and they all work all the time. We love OPI’s I Love You Just Be-Cusco.

Growing out your hair can be tough. For some people it’s nearly impossible, which is why we want to give you 4 tips on how you can naturally add growth to your hair.

  1. Frequent Trims | It may sound counter-productive, why cut your hair off when you’re trying to grow it out, but eliminating split ends helps give the appearance that your hair is growing faster.
  2. Lay Off the Bleach | This one is important. when you lighten your hair, it can be damaged if you use bleach. Bleaching your hair can lead to increased breakage and split ends. When trying to grow your hair, it is important to stay away things that are known to cause damage and breakage to your hair.
  3. Avoid Heat | Over-styling your hair can really cause breakage. If it is a necessity that you to use a heating tool, we recommend using a heat protectant spray. One of our favorites is the Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Protectant Spray. Another way to help your hair grow is to decrease the temperature of the tool and to not keep the heat in one place for too long.
  4. Skip Shampooing | Shampooing your hair three times a week rather than every day is more beneficial to your hair than you can imagine. Shampooing your hair three times a week allows the natural oils in your scalp to incorporate into your hair, giving it the opportunity to repair and hydrate itself.

Healthy hair is important. When your hair is healthy it is also growing. If you are trying to grow out your hair, or if you just want your hair to look healthier, give one of these tips a try!

Your 30s are to be enjoyed and not feared! At 91µÎµÎ, we want you to look your best at every age. Our skin changes as we age; collagen production begins to slow, and you may notice a wrinkle you hadn’t before. What may have worked for you before may not be the best route for you now. That’s why we have tips for your skin-care routine in your 30s.

Start Exfoliating | If you never exfoliated in your 20s then you’ll want to consider trying it out in yours 30s. Exfoliation helps boost cell turnover and remove dead skin cells that may be clogging your pores. Exfoliating will also allow your moisturizer to seep into your skin.

Don’t Forget to Tone | Toning your skin has always been importance but, in your 30s, you may notice an uneven tone or discoloration. Using a hydrating toner can help to correct damage caused by your environment and the sun.

Use Retinol | As we age, our ability to produce collagen begins to naturally slow. Having a retinol regimen will help to strengthen your skin and boost skin cell renewal. If you’ve been using retinol for a while, you may want to reach out to your dermatologist to obtain a stronger prescription than an over-the-counter product.

Apply Sunscreen | This is a must throughout your life but especially in your 30s. Pigmentation, wrinkles, and lines can be made worse by exposure to the sun, so you’ll want to ensure you add this step to your beauty routine before you leave the house each morning.

There is nothing more beautiful than aging naturally. At 91µÎµÎ, our students will help you to look and feel your best at every age. Call us to learn more about our professional beauty services today!

Summer is right around the corner, and we could not be more excited to break out our sunglasses and flip flops at 91µÎµÎ! While you’re pushing the heavy winter coats to the back of your closet, remember to switch up your skincare routine with the changing season.

Don’t Forget the Sunscreen | It’s going to get warmer, which means you’ll want to spend more of your time outside. Do not forget to apply sunscreen! Using sunscreen is the best way to take care of your skin during the summer season. Apply every morning during your makeup routine.

Take Care of Your Lips | We often forget how sensitive our lips can be, especially in the summer months. You’ll want to invest in a lip balm or lipstick that has SPF 30 or higher to ensure your lips are protected against the sun.

Lighten Up on the Concealer | You won’t need the heavy foundation you used this past winter this summer. Give your skin some time to breathe over the next few months.

Don’t Forget to Add Water | Your skin needs to be hydrated, especially during the warmer seasons. Remembering to drink the recommended daily amount of water your body needs is going to do wonders for you and your skin.

We hope you’re looking forward to this summer as much as we are at 91µÎµÎ! Don’t forget that it’s never too late to follow your dreams. If you’re looking to start a new chapter in your career, this summer is the perfect time! We are now enrolling. Call us for more information.

At 91µÎµÎ, we understand the importance of makeup and skincare. However, finding the perfect foundation for you and your skin can be difficult, especially with all the different products out there! So, how do you pick the perfect foundation for your skin type? That’s where we come in!

Acne-Prone Skin | If you deal with acne on a regular basis then you know the struggle of finding a foundation that doesn’t cause irritation. Try using a medium full coverage foundation and remember to use a clean brush with every application.

Oily Skin | For those of us who deal with oily skin, you’ll want to stick with long-lasting foundations and apply only using a sponge or brush as the oil from our hands can transfer to our face.

Sensitive Skin | The most important thing to remember when you have sensitive skin is to stay away from any products that have fragrances. Sticking with lighter foundations should help keep any irritation at bay.

Dry Skin | If you struggle with dry skin, using a primer could be life-changing to your skincare routine. Try adding a bit of moisturizer to your foundation before you apply to help give your skin that extra boost it needs.

As we all know, choosing the right foundation is a must! Not only will your skin be happier but so will you when you know that you’re taking the best care of you skin.

At Robert Fiance, our goal is to provide you with the information you need to be successful in your career. If you’re interested in our Esthetics or Makeup Artistry program, call us today!

The new year is right around the corner, so it’s that time of the year where we discuss our favorite beauty trends of the past year. The beauty industry focused on overall health in 2018, but we’ve still seen some wild initiative this year (see water bottle curls). From sustainability to strange, 2018 has seen it all. Here are our favorite beauty trends of 2018:

1. The Topknot | Topknots are everywhere and for good reason. Not only are they the number one choice for those of us running to the office late, but they also have a way of mixing together an effortless yet elegant look.

2. Glitter Galore | Our childhood dreams came true this year when glitter made its way back to the forefront of the beauty industry. Who doesn’t love a sparkly eyeshadow or blush? Or maybe you even prefer a liquid liner that sparkles all through the night. Whatever your preference, enjoy this trend to its fullest.

3. Neon Lights | 2018 was a big year for bright colors. The industry saw a shift in both eyeshadow and eyeliner, opting for brighter colors on and off the catwalk.

4. Waves | Waves made waves in 2018. Whether you create yours through a curling iron, straightener, or styling products, messy waves are in style and we hope they stay there. To add more volume to your own, try using a texture spray. This will keep your hair light and bouncy without the crunch.

5. Big Brows | Thank goodness for this beauty trend! We no longer have to worry too much about plucking out all of those brow hairs as big brows are in style. For those of us who suffer from thin brows, try filling them in with eyeshadow and then using a brow gel to keep them in place all day.

The holidays are here! This time of the year is full of gifts, family and food, but it can also be a cause of stress for some of us. You may find yourself running around town, attempting to get everything in order before your family arrives or trying to wrap gifts around your busy work schedule. This may begin to affect your skin without you even realizing it.

Have you noticed that you breakout more when you’re feeling overwhelmed? It’s happened to most of us. This is because stress creates a chemical reaction, which can lead to more sensitive skin. While there is no way to completely prevent stress or a breakout, there are 5 easy ways you can tackle stress this holiday season.

1. Exercise Regularly | We know. It’s difficult to fit exercise into our busy schedules, but we really do have to make time for ourselves. Not only does exercise provide you with an outlet for stress, it also increases blood flow which nourishes your skin cells. You can take a walk around after work or even during your lunch break or try yoga in the mornings before your day begins. You can even practice meditation before bed. You’ll know what works best to ease your stress.

2. Set a Bedtime | It may feel like the only time you have to yourself is in the evenings, but your body needs time to rest. Your body makes more of the stress hormone cortisol when you are sleep-deprived, which can lead to inflammation from additional stress.

3. Know Your Limits | One of the hardest things for us to say to those we care about is ‘no’, but you have to remember that you’re never going to be able to do everything. Your schedule will be full this holiday season, and you may have to say no to a few holiday parties and family gatherings. Know when your body needs time to rest, and don’t be afraid to take a night for yourself.

4. Take Care of Your Skin | The most important advice we can give to you is to continue to take care of your skin this season. Colder weather means dry skin, so don’t forget to moisturize in the morning and afternoon. Always wash your face, even after a long day at the office. Make your nightly routine a way to pamper yourself; your skin will thank you for it.
