The only thing worse than having to retire your shorts because the end of warm weather is approaching is having to retire your bright makeup products. There is something about the dew, glow, and pop of summer makeup that doesn’t seem to fit the winter weather change.

However, there’s nothing to say that you can’t carry certain products and techniques from season to season. Here are our 5 favorite makeup products you can bring with you from summer into winter.

  1. Kosas, Color & Light in Tropic Equinox ($34) – This is bronzer/highlight palette that is made of the most beautiful creamy formula, making it easy for application and blend. This product is great for keeping up the appearance of a summer glow.
  2. Tarte, Glide & Go Buttery Lipstick ($18) – This product comes in six shades and gives you the ultimate hydration for your lips. These colors are all fabulous, but the brighter colors can be transitioned into fall and winter with a simple look for the rest of your makeup.
  3. Stila, Heaven’s Dew All Over Glimmer ($25) – This highlighter is perfect to transition from summer to winter. This cream-powder hybrid highlighter gives the skin a glow but not too strong. This is perfect because it can be layered for a more noticeable glimmer or kept light for a little shine.
  4. Glossier Lidstar in Shade Cub ($18)- We don’t know where this has been our entire lives, but, oh, we are happy it’s here! This gorgeous rose-gold shade is perfect for a light shimmer or can be layered over a darker makeup look for something more winter-appropriate.
  5. Urban Decay, Beached Eyeshadow Palette ($34)– The shades in this palette are so versatile they can be used year-round. These shimmers are perfect to layer over a lighter or darker look.

We love all things that summer can bring to your look, but we love them even more when they can be incorporated year-round. All of these products have the ability to be used in any season.

Even subtle changes in the season can impact your skin in big ways. Being able to transition your skincare routine to ensure your skin’s overall health throughout the year is so important. With fall coming to a close and winter temperatures approaching, we want to show you how you can take your skincare routine from fall to winter.

Moisturize | Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. We cannot stress this enough. If you’ve been following your beauty routine, you’ve probably been doing this already. However, as the temperature begins to drop and snow begins to fall (unless you’re located in our South Florida campus!), your skin is going to sense a shift. Lathering up on moisturizer will help your skin from becoming dehydrated and dry. Switching to a heavier moisturizer when the weather cools down will be imperative in keeping your skin healthy.

Face Masks | Another way to help update your routine is to try is a face mask. As the season changes, dryness, redness, and sensitivity can irritate your skin. With so many different kinds of face masks on the market, there’s a face mask that will satisfy any and all of your needs.

Exfoliate! | And don’t forget that exfoliation is key! Help cleanse your skin and try exfoliating once or twice a week this season as it will help remove the dead skin from your face and give you a clean polished look.

Use Sunscreen | Using SPF is just as important year-round as it is during the summer. Keeping your skin protected rain or shine is necessary because your skin can still be impacted by the sun regardless of the weather. It is recommended to wear at least a SPF 15.

Perfecting your skin care routine can be tough, but with these additions your skin will be perfect transitioning from fall to winter.

Getting through cosmetology school can be tough as there’s a lot to learn before you perfect your craft. At 91µÎµÎ, we want to send you out into the beauty world as a top-notch professional. There are steps you can take to prepare yourself for a successful career in the industry, which is why we want to walk you through the do’s and don’ts of cosmetology school.

Do | Gain relevant experience while attending beauty school. This may mean taking a less-than interesting job in a salon or spa to get your experience. This is important because, although you may not be doing what you want, it will help you get your foot in the door.

Don’t | Attend a non-accredited school. When searching for the right beauty school, you need to keep in mind if it’s reputable as well as accredited. Otherwise, it really won’t matter how much you learn as employers may not take you seriously if they feel your degree is not legitimate. It may be more difficult for someone with a degree from a non-accredited school to get certified or licensed.

Do | Use networking to your advantage. Networking within your industry is so important while you are in school. Starting to build a client base while in school is a good thing! You want to get your name and your work out there; an amazing way to do that is through social media. Start a Business Account on Instagram and being to build a following.

Don’t | Enroll in beauty school full time if you are unable to commit to it. Having a work-life balance is necessary for your success. Being a full-time student in beauty school is a massive time commitment, so it’s important to consider whether you can handle full-time or if you’d be a better part-time student. Though being enrolled part-time will mean being in school longer, it will be better than taking on more than you can handle and not being able to complete your program altogether.

Beauty school is not easy and is going to take a lot of work, but we believe in you and your success! Following these tips will help ensure long-term success in and out of beauty school!

It’s hard to break up your skin routine when you know what works for you. It makes sense that you might be apprehensive to change, but we want to stress how important it is to shift your skincare routine from season to season. This sounds like a tough task but switching up your skin routine from fall to winter is easier than you think!

Tip #1- Change up your moisturizer

Since the cooler climate can cause your skin to become dry, using a heavier moisturizer is exactly what the weather calls for. Some of our favorites are from L’Oréal Paris. We love the Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care and the Age Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Moisturizer. These are both amazing for hydrating your skin when it needs it the most.

Tip #2 – Hello, Exfoliation!

Exfoliation is so essential even though it is commonly left out in skincare routines; it is important to exfoliate your face 1-2 times a week, especially in the winter. When you fail to exfoliate your skin, dead skin cells build up on the surface and can make your skin look dull. So, be sure to incorporate this step for bright skin all winter long.

Tip #3 – Use a Charcoal Mask

With your social calendar kicking up during the holidays, it is still important to make some time for yourself. A charcoal face mask will do more for your skin than you can imagine. A charcoal face mask can help draw out all of the impurities that could be on or in your skin. This also helps reduce dullness and your skin immediately looks more radiant!

Tip #4 – Focus on Evening Skin Tone

After a long year, there is a serious chance that your complexion could use some correcting. The formation of dark sports can pop up on your skin. Thankfully winter provides an amazing opportunity to work on evening your skin tone. We suggest trying a dark spot correcting serum to help minimize dark spots.

We hope you can use some of these tips to ramp up your winter skin routine! Let us know if you try any of these on our social media!

Every season requires different things for your skin and beauty routine. As the weather gets cooler, you may realize your foundation isn’t matching like it did in the summer, your blush is not looking as natural, and you may even notice your perfect pout needs an update. That’s why it’s best to refine your makeup look for the winter, and we have the best tips for you below!

Retire Matte Foundation – As the temperature drops, your skin becomes drier thanks to the lack of moisture in the air. This can make matte foundation look heavy on dry skin, so we recommend you pick something with a more radiant finish as the way to go when the season changes.

Use Highlighter – Getting a perfect glow during the winter can be achieved by adding a highlighter to your routine. Apply a drop of liquid highlighter or use a powder on the highest points of your face to add a beautiful dewy glow.

Contour, Contour, Contour – Ditch the bronzer and invest in a contour palette. When it is dark and cold outside, bronzer can bring out an orange tint. Try warming up your look by taking advantage of contouring. This will also make your features more defined.

Incorporate Jewel Tones – In the winter, you need to ditch the warm fall colors and switch to something cooler, and, perhaps, even bolder. Jewel tones are perfect for this because they stand up to your winter complexion. Our favorite incorporation of jewel tones is a metallic jeweled wing eyeliner paired with a fluffy lash and a minimal look on the rest of your face.

We hope you’ve enjoyed these tips and tricks to revamp your makeup routine for winter!!

The weather is changing, and we are falling in love with new products that we believe are worth a try. Many of the brands we follow are releasing products that you’ll want to incorporate into your fall makeup look. Here are our top 4 beauty products to try this fall!

  1. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair BarriAIR cream ($30) – This moisturizer gives you the same effect as a heavy moisturizer would but without the weigh. It has a whipped, airy texture which lends to it having more of a gel moisturizer feel. It contains hyaluronic acid to moisturize then skin and ceramides to help strengthen your skin barrier.
  2. Make Up Forever Ultra HD Self-Setting Concealer ($28) – Who wants to deal with having to touch up concealer mid-day? Absolutely no one. 3. Benefit Roller Liner ($22)- If you’ve heard of roller lash from Benefit this is like its little sister. This is available in both matte black and brown, and it has an extra-fine felt tip that glides easily and smoothly without dragging the product. This makes it easy for a beginner to draw a nice clean wing. This product should stay set for 24 hours, so it should be perfect still when you are ready to take it off.

Picking a nail color can be hard, trust us we know. But we want to help! So, here’s our guide to the best nail colors for this fall season!

Nudes | Honestly, you can never go wrong with a solid nude color. Regardless of the season, this color works with everything. There are many ways to do a nude color by going with a beige or a metallic bronze.

Glitter | There is no such thing as too much glitter, and glitter on your nails is a trend that’s not going away any time soon. We recommend a silver-grey sparkle for the fall. This is great to put on all of your nails or just one for an accent. The more chunky the sparkle, the better.

Dark Blues | Choosing a blue shade during fall is very important; the darker the blue the better. Indigo is a perfect shade for the fall as it’s dark enough to fit in with the season. Give Chanel’s Chanel le Vernis in Blue Trompeur a shot!

Red | A red nail never goes out of style and can be worn in any season. Red is the perfect color because there are so many different shades. We recommend a dark red, bright red, or orange red. There are so many options and they all work all the time. We love OPI’s I Love You Just Be-Cusco.

Summer is spent perfecting your no-makeup makeup look, but chances are, as fall approaches, its likely you’ll want to go for something more. It is time to say goodbye to your sun-kissed skin and hello to these must-try makeup looks this fall.

  • Unexpected Color | Out with the black, in with the color. Instead of a basic black liner, give a bright blue or neon pink a try. A great change-up to your look that can be paired perfectly with a nude lip.
  • Mauve Accents | Mauve is the perfect shade to transition from summer to fall; it’s darker than your typical summer shades but not as deep as a full fall tone. Mauve is flattering on almost every skin type. Our favorite use of this color for fall is on your eyes, whether it be a liner or an eyeshadow.
  • Wine Lips | Red is always a go-to lip color, but you can spice it up for fall by going darker. Opposed to a bright red lip, try a rich burgundy. This brings in the depth of color for fall and pairs perfectly with a very minimalistic makeup look.
  • Subtle Smokey Eye | Ditch the dramatic smokey eye and soften it up a bit like you would for the day. This can be achieved by adding some shimmer to your inner corners. This is meant to be paired with a very minimal makeup look.
  • Metallic Eyes | Rather than just putting a little shimmer on the inner corner of your eye, try using this metallic shimmer shade all over your lid and lower lash line to add a nice shimmer and sparkle to your look.

These trends can all be worn in any color and with any type of additional makeup. Let us know if you try any of these fall makeup trends on our social media!

Growing out your hair can be tough. For some people it’s nearly impossible, which is why we want to give you 4 tips on how you can naturally add growth to your hair.

  1. Frequent Trims | It may sound counter-productive, why cut your hair off when you’re trying to grow it out, but eliminating split ends helps give the appearance that your hair is growing faster.
  2. Lay Off the Bleach | This one is important. when you lighten your hair, it can be damaged if you use bleach. Bleaching your hair can lead to increased breakage and split ends. When trying to grow your hair, it is important to stay away things that are known to cause damage and breakage to your hair.
  3. Avoid Heat | Over-styling your hair can really cause breakage. If it is a necessity that you to use a heating tool, we recommend using a heat protectant spray. One of our favorites is the Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Protectant Spray. Another way to help your hair grow is to decrease the temperature of the tool and to not keep the heat in one place for too long.
  4. Skip Shampooing | Shampooing your hair three times a week rather than every day is more beneficial to your hair than you can imagine. Shampooing your hair three times a week allows the natural oils in your scalp to incorporate into your hair, giving it the opportunity to repair and hydrate itself.

Healthy hair is important. When your hair is healthy it is also growing. If you are trying to grow out your hair, or if you just want your hair to look healthier, give one of these tips a try!
